Source: NPSA renovation project for the nearby Comfort Station requires electrical service to be shut off. This shut off affects lighting in the spiral staircase leading up to the Pennsylvania Memorial observation deck. The staircase is now too dark to maintain visitors’ safety. The observation deck will remain closed until the Comfort Station project is complete in early-to-mid November. Note: The base of the Pennsylvania Memorial remains open to visitation during this time.
Source: NPSOpen for comment - The goal of this project is to demolish four extraneous structures at the Wright (Guinn) Farm and the Bishop Farm. The GAOA was implemented to reduce as many excess resources as possible to ensure limited funding can be directed to the most significant resources that are fundamental to the Park's mission. Significant resources include buildings in Major Battle Action Areas that provided cover and concealment or created obstacles during the Battle of Gettysburg.
